Public Sector Banks (PSBs) are a major type of bank in India, where a majority stake (i.e. more than 50%) is held by the government.

There are a total of 12 Public Sector Banks in India :

  3. IBPS Clerk Exam - Selects candidates for recruiting Clerks.

What is the Qualification needed for Govt Bank Jobs in India ?

Minimum qualification for Banking Jobs is :

  • For Clerks - 12th Standard with a minimum of 60% Marks.
  • For PO(Probationary Officer) - Graduation degree from a recognized University/Institute.

A Graduate can apply mainly for two position for Banking Job :

  1. Clerk Jobs - This includes clerk-cum-cashier, typist, stenographer, agricultural clerks, data entry operators and telephone operators.
  2. PO-Probationary Officers - For the job of PO, the selected candidates will be under probation period and upon the end of the probation period the candidate is given the job position as per his/her performance during the training period.
What is the salary of Clerks and PO in Public Sector Banks ?
  • For Clerks - Average Salary is 1,40,000/- per annum for the Entry Level Clerks.
  • For PO - Average Salary is 2,00,000/- + Allowances.
